MONTHLY
UPDATE
August 30th, 2024
Hey Commons Friends! We have some BIG things coming up! Read the details here and we hope to see you soon.
CAMPOUT THIS WEEKEND
The Commons Campout is Friday, August 30th (TODAY) to Sunday, September 1st. We will start gathering at the campsite around 3pm on Friday, and be done on Sunday around noon. Feel free to come for as much or little as you’d like! We will NOT have our afternoon Sunday service on September 1st, but we will have a mini-service at the campsite on Sunday morning at 9am! Again, NO SERVICE THIS SUNDAY AT 4:30pm.
We will provide a port-a-potty, firewood, and s’mores stuff! Bring your own camping gear and food. Also, bring a yoga mat if you’d like to do a Barre class taught by Sara Henderson on Saturday!
Written directions to campsite: Head North on Fort Valley Rd/180 towards the Grand Canyon and drive until you see Forest Rd 245 on your left. Turn left there and drive around 2 miles on the dirt road and look for our group and our sign on the left! The campsite location is at this google maps pin: https://maps.app.goo.gl/tmWFFfXj6KVd4kiaA
FLAG LOOP CHALLENGE
Can you complete the Flag Loop Challenge? We are excited to announce this epic fundraising event for The Commons! The Flagstaff Loop Trail is a 42 mile loop on the Urban Trail System that circles the whole city. Our community at The Commons is taking the month of September to encourage people to get moving on the loop trail while supporting our mission to inspire kindness, justice, and inclusion. You choose if you’d like to run, bike, hike, or relay with friends to complete the 42 mile loop over the next month! Set a fundraising goal and use our support letter template to ask your friends and family to support you in your challenge. This is a sweet way to tell people what you are raising money for and why it matters to you, while also loving your mind and body through movement! We will have a party to celebrate the finish of this challenge on Saturday, September 28th at 4pm at Fort Tuthill. See all the details and sign up at FlagstaffCommons.com/Loop

FINANCE UPDATE
To ensure healthy sustainability of our crucial programs, our staff, and our Sunday gatherings, we set a goal to raise an additional $9,000 of monthly income by the end of December 2024. As of now, we have raised $2,169.36 of our $9,000 goal and are so grateful for that progress. The Commons is 100% financially sustained by community donations and we’ve always been a locally, grassroots, people supported church. The income provided by people like you allows us to rent space, plan events, give to those in need, help hurting people, maintain a healthy staff, sustain a flourishing community, and serve needs in Flagstaff and around the world. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit and all donations are fully tax deductible. If you appreciate the work we are doing, find a sense of home here, or simply would like to see The Commons flourish, we ask if you would consider setting up a monthly donation at FlagstaffCommons.com/give.
