The focus is connecting people to people, not people to projects. As a trip participant, you will work alongside a local family and other community members to build a house. By the time your group arrives, this family will have already served hundreds of hours in their community, using their gifts and talents to create opportunities for their families and neighbors.

Our team will also get to go to the beach, eat fish tacos (if that’s your kinda thing), and have an amazing experience alongside our team! We will caravan/carpool and depart on Friday morning February 14th and get back to Flagstaff around dinner time on February 17th.

Can you complete the Flag Loop Challenge?
A fundraising event for The Commons
CLICK HERE FOR FULL EVENT DETAILS AND SIGN UP INFO
The Flagstaff Loop Trail is a 42 mile loop on the Urban Trail System that circles the whole city. Our community at The Commons is taking the month of September to encourage people to get moving on the loop trail while supporting our mission to inspire kindness, justice, and inclusion. Here’s how it works:
Decide how you want to explore the loop trail: Either all in one day, or spaced out between September 1st-28th, choose if you would like to run, bike, hike, relay with friends, or just do part of the trail ending at our finish line on September 28th.
Set a fundraising goal: If you raise over $1000 you receive a free Flagstaff Loop Trail T-Shirt! When choosing your fundraising goal, consider how many people you plan to send letters to and what you think is possible, but don’t be afraid to dream big with us. We hope that the minimum goal would be $500, the max goal would be around $5000, and the average goal would be $2000. Any goal is welcome and we are grateful for any support!
Register your challenge goal: Go to FlagstaffCommons.com/Loop. After you submit your info we will make sure you know all the info and keep you informed and supported in your journey.
Send support letters to friends and family: We have created a support letter template you can use and edit to make your own. This letter will have information on the challenge you are taking on, and explain the reason you are doing it to raise money for this organization that you care deeply about. The letter includes details on how people can donate specifically under your name.
Buy a T-Shirt: Order your “Flag Loop Challenge” shirt for $25 by filling out this form and completing the payment. https://forms.gle/Vt4MzZRMxFsrTrPj6
Track your progress: As donations come in we will keep you updated on your progress so you know how close you are to reaching your fundraising goal.
Hit the trail: Get out and enjoy the sunshine. Here is a map of the Flagstaff Loop Trail. https://www.arcgis.com/apps/OnePane/basicviewer/index.html?appid=91e0af6714ec4631a1193110a6676abc

GivingTuesday
GivingTuesday is an opportunity for people around the world to use their individual power of generosity to support their communities. It is a day with the simple idea of encouraging people to do good, and it’s grown into a global movement that inspires millions of people to give, collaborate, do acts of kindness, and celebrate generosity. GivingTuesday is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States, which is on November 28th this year! Instead of having such a big focus on the consumerism of Black Friday, join us in observing this generosity movement by considering giving a tax-deductible donation.
By making a donation to The Commons you are:
Supporting the other organizations we support: Speak Up for the Poor, Flagstaff Family Food Center, Beloved Arise, Life Ansanm, Northern Arizona Interfaith Council
Helping allow this type of progressive and inclusive theology to remain active and available in Flagstaff
Making it possibly for us to afford the costs of our Sunday service space and programming (each service costs an average of $550, not including staff salaries)
Supporting the programs that we sustain: Immigrant Family Food Share, Jubilee Ministry for Young Adults with Disabilities, Flagstaff Youth Co-Op, Kids Ministry, Community Groups, Campouts, Mexico House Building Trips, etc.
Making our staff healthy and sustainable in order for us to continue to walk alongside people in their lives, questions, heartbreaks, and celebrations; as well as giving us space to dream about more ways to help this community flourish.
If you would like to make a one time donation or set up an automatic monthly donation to The Commons, that would mean the world to us. You can do so by clicking this link. (PS: If you scroll down and click “bank account” instead of “credit/debit” and pay by using your routing/account numbers, this helps there be less processing fees.)
In the spirit of GivingTuesday, The Commons is volunteering at the Flagstaff Family Food Center on Tuesday, November 28th from 10:45am to 1pm. We will be distributing family food boxes from the warehouse on Huntington Dr. If you would like to join us in helping feed our neighbors at the outdoor, drive-thru food distribution, let us know! With the help of volunteers, FFFC is able to give out groceries to over 200 families per day! Volunteer roles include: loading food into cars, controlling traffic, packing food into boxes, and writing down client information.
Together we can unleash the power of people and organizations to transform communities and the world.
